D'Aria Winery

In the Tygerberg Valley of Durbanville, where rolling hills meet shifting light and cool maritime breezes sweep in from the Atlantic, D'Aria Winery has built a reputation that belies its youth. Founded in 2008, the estate takes its name from the Italian word 'aria' -- a melody, a song -- and that musical thread runs through everything: wine labels named Love Song, Pop Song, Winter Ballad, and Summer Anthem; a reserve Shiraz called The Soprano; and a flagship Sauvignon Blanc called The Songbird.

But the land's history stretches far deeper than the winery's founding date. The property's viticultural roots reach back to 1698, making the terroir itself one of the oldest cultivated sites in the Durbanville Valley. D'Aria honours this heritage while bringing a distinctly modern, creative energy to the wine experience.

The estate has earned recognition as a Sauvignon Blanc specialist and an award-winning wine producer. The cool-climate Durbanville terroir -- characterised by valley breezes, clay-rich soils, and old bush vines -- produces wines with vivid aromatics and natural freshness. The range spans four tiers. The Music Range offers accessible, easy-drinking blends: Summer Anthem (a white blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, and Viognier) and Winter Ballad (a red composition of Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot). The Signature Range delivers single-varietal expressions -- Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and the dry-rose Blush. The Reserve Range steps up with The Songbird Sauvignon Blanc, The Soprano Shiraz, and the newly released Grenache Noir from a single vineyard block. The Sparkling Range rounds out the portfolio with Pop Song (Sparkling Sauvignon Blanc) and Love Song (Sparkling Shiraz Rose).

D'Aria also produces wines under the House of Mandela label -- the Thembu Tribute and Phumla ranges -- as well as the King Vusani Cabernet Sauvignon, a partnership that connects the winery to a broader South African story. The estate's distillery produces a Potstill Brandy (The Piccolo) and a craft gin.

The dining experience at D'Aria embraces the full day. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served alongside food and wine pairings, fine dining options, cheese and charcuterie platters, high tea, and picnic baskets. The restaurant terrace overlooks a dam, gardens, and the valley beyond -- a setting that draws families, couples, and corporate groups alike.
